La Vigilia

Inspired by the history of Barrio das Flores in Carballo, and its connection to former orchards and cultivated land, La Vigilia portrays a figure that exists somewhere between reality and folklore.

Surrounded by flowers, fruit and wildlife, she becomes a quiet and watchful presence, embodying the memory of the landscape and its natural abundance. The dark atmosphere and scattered sparks are a subtle reference to the night of San Xoán, bringing together nature, fire and local tradition.

As in much of my work, I was interested in creating a character that feels both familiar and mysterious, suspended between the real and the imaginary.
